The Touch Diamond from HTC is a beautifully crafted phone - the attention to detail is remarkable and the result is awesome. This is second-generation Touch and a worthy rival to Apple's IPhone. TouchFLO technology is replaced by the far more workable TouchFLO 3D. Web surfing is through Opera Mobile 9.5 instead of Mobile IE while 7.2Mbit/s HSDPA and Wi-Fi provide enhanced connectivity. First to catch the eye is the 2.8-inch touchscreen which is "resistive" as opposed to "capacitive" meaning that it will work with a stylus and even when you are wearing gloves. The screen's VGA resolution means everything is crisp and clear; moreover the TouchFLO 3D interface auto-adjusts the backlight based on the lighting conditions. Described elsewhere accurately as "a slab of sculptured elegance" the HTC Touch Diamond wins hands down for attention to detail…such as being able to trigger silent mode simply by resting the phone on its face; likewise waking the phone up simply by removing the stylus - itself held in place by an internal magnet. …beautifully done. The entire back of the phone is the battery cover - diamond faceted too. There is a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera: brushed stainless steel within in a black plastic casing. For the functionality it packs the Diamond is surprisingly small thin and light (102 x 51 x 11.33 mm weighing 110g) given that it is a Windows Mobile Pro device with a VGA display and 4 GB of storage - though no expansion slot. Of course it supports Bluetooth wireless and also sports Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS navigation. The on-screen keyboard can be displayed in full QWERTY 20 key or even 12 key configurations. Other features include HTC's own photo viewer a YouTube player Zip manager a Streaming Media Player and Cyberon Voice Speed Dial. The Diamond is a triband phone for international roaming and supports European (not US) 3G. Battery life is rated at 5.5 hours for GSM 4.5 hours for 3G and 300 hours on standby. - 2.8-inch cystal clear display - 3.2 megapixel camera - 4 GB internal memory - Beautifuly design full of special touches.
