With dimensions of 56 x 114.5 x 18.4mm and weighing 120g the Blackberry 7130g from RIM provides a more pocket-friendly version of the 8700g. Here RIM aims to combine the email and phone functions into a single well-designed handset and in doing so has produced a good-looking device that is far more stylish than its more workmanlike Blackberry colleagues finished as it is in matt black and silver. It does not have a full QWERTY keyboard: you must either use the multi-tap method of inputting text or the SureType predictive text method. Experience of T9 predictive text with your mobile phone will ensure you have the right expectations of SureType - some find it as fast as a full keyboard. This is a business-oriented device: no camera or MP3 player (you can download games) but as you might expect there is GPRS and EDGE connectivity for Web browsing and the full array of messaging options (SMS MMS email and IM). Applications include an organiser and calculator but like other Blackberries there is no card slot for additional storage (there is 64MB flash memory). It is a quadband device so will support roaming all around the world. There is Bluetooth for short-range wireless connectivity to compatible devices but no WLAN/WiFi or infrared. In short the 7130g is a well designed mobile device for professionals and (business oriented) consumers alike who need to stay connected on the road. Battery life is rated at up to four hours of talk time and up to 430 hours on standby. - Quadband for global roaming. - SureType predictive texting - Stylish exterior with large screen.
